INTERNATIONAL week was celebrated by the intervention group when they made African masks and bracelets.
The students at Pleckgate used sticks dipped in paint to decorate masks with a series of dots. They also learnt about the Masai tribesmen and painted typical clothes they wear.
Year 9 student Nafeesah said: “I think my mask is beautiful and it is something I would like to take home. It took me a long time to make it.
I have learnt a lot about Africa. I know that a lot of the people are poor and they live in straw huts and they have to walk a lot to get water and they carry it on their back.
If they go to school they have to walk a long way to get there but some people do not go to school because they do not have enough money.”
