Students got a taste of secondary school life at Pleckgate on their induction day.
The primary school students will all be attending Pleckgate in September and this week they had the chance to meet each other and meet their form tutors to help with their transition.
They enjoyed a science experiment, wrote a poem in English as well as playing dodgeball as they got to know their way around the school with Pleckgate boasting an increased entry for Year Sevens this year.
“It’s been really good,” said one Aamenah Ahmed who attends Brookhead Primary School. “We got to meet our tutor Mr Ahmed and we had to write a poem about what we expect life to be like at Pleckgate and all about our new school and new classmates.”
While it was the students turn during the day, parents came in at tea-time to hear a talk from Headteacher Mr Cocker about the forward-thinking school, which is an iPad Academy meaning all students work with iPads to help with their studies.
“We have been excited by the fact that more students want to come to Pleckgate in the next school year,” said Mr Cocker. “We had our best ever GCSE results last year and are expecting another improvement in August.”
